You are right. But, I am not convinced that the transmissions adopts, it is the human being who adopts to the sudden jerk and slow start. Apart from the wind noise and the jerky/slow start, it is a great car. Still for 55K and the BMW name one would expect better. It is like you have bought a car from a novice car company who is trying to figure out the transmission.
