Well I guess BMW doesn't know what they're doing because newer BMWs including my 2011 335 M-Sport have dustless pads. I can now go over a month before seeing significant dust on my wheels. BTW, I've been running aftermarket brake pads for years on all my BMWs and have had no ill effects. I've been enjoying clean wheels on my X5 for over a year and would never go back to the dusty stock pads.

My experience has been similar. I think the OEM pads are just cheap and many of the aftermarket pads are superior.
