Maintenance isn't that bad if you can work on the car your self. I've had the car for about 2 years and have put in a little over 2k in just parts. But that's including about all the preventive maintenance you can do as well.
If your picking up a car don't just settle for a clean carfax. Take it to a shop and have a PPI done, definitely worth it!
