Sorry to here about the X3.
When my 2001 325xit was in a very heavy hail storm my insurance company was great (State Farm, I've been with them for years for houses, cars, bikes). The adjuster came out and really gave credit for everything with the car, condition, tires, packages, interior, etc (no credit for maintenance, that is considered normal use). When they came back with a value it was really high. (plus some differed maintenance that I was going to do). My agent would have fixed the car with the quote that I got, but he let me total it instead. I think I came out several thousand ahead. Took the proceeds and purchased my 2006 X3 (plus a little more cash).
Hope this helps.
