11K miles, steering wheel peeling - WTH

Posted this in another thread but maybe it belongs here.

Peeling on steering wheel - rarely gets touched!
Same problem, around 11K miles and those buttons never get used. It is the left side. There must be a design flaw.

The wheel is matte, the underneath is very shiny black. The shiny looks better.

Noted on the other thread that the dealer wrote up that lotions can cause peeling. If a car cannot take hand lotions without peeling then WTH? Will BMWs require regulation driving gloves in order to prevent peeling? This is nonsense. I have not noticed door handles and other pieces yet but I haven't looked that hard either.
Bummer Bimmer. What a disappointing car.

If anyone has had their plastic pieces replaced for peeling, doesn't the peeling just start up again? Is this car really a BMW?
