:sigh: ok, first, the designation of obd1/2 is determined by the dme. the motor does not care if it was in an obd1 or 2 vehicle, it has no way of knowing what it is. you *should* still be able to do a stomp test regardless.

if, however, the dme was swapped out from an obd2 vehicle and placed in the obd1 vehicle, *then* you may have issues with stomp test/no stomp test. i would imagine that there would also be all sorts of check engine light issues as well, due to the dme not being able to communicate with other synched modules. (obd2 is flashed, not chipped)

i'd check to see what would cause you to not be able to run a stomp test and see what shows up.

this sounds like a maf default to me. cleaning a bad maf will not do anything, and would screw up the readings as well.
