This is one of the things that is going to kill me buying the new X3...the lack of aftermarket upgrades (that and no MT and the dreaded RFT's). Although I have changed the roundels on my current X3 and the pedals I don't consider that an Aftermarket Upgrade per se.

It is amazing that although they are using the N55 engine which is in several other models there is no chip mod for this yet. I have reached out to Dinan several times and more than a full year after production of the X3 there is still nothing. Not even a simple cold air intake.

Why is this so important? I like more torque than the X3 has to offer. I don't need more top end, but I need a better acceleration curve than it offers.

The other thing by having this ability when the X3 becomes outmoded in 2-3 years it gives it a way to breath new life into a model that may be waning in its competitive edge. And instead of searching for a vehicle all over again, all I have to do is search for a real Aftermarket Upgrade.
