A trailing arm is not a normal wear item. Replacements are pretty expensive. Unless you smashed into a curb i dont see it needing to be replaced. As Reilly said, hes just milking it for more.
The sway bar bushings i can see needing replacement as they do wear out. Their pretty inexpensive and something you can do yourself. As for the ball joints, to test if their good or not, grab the wheel at 3 and 9 and shake it. Their shouldnt be any play. It should feel solid.
