Mein Auto: 2011 BMW 335d
As a data point, my last car was a 2008 335i SP/PP/6M. Purchased new, took delivery Dec 2008, traded Oct 2011 with 85K on the clock. I spent $6,100 on routine maintenance during my ownership. Only the SAT radio module had to be replaced under warranty. Nothing broke out of warranty. HPFP replaced under recall, but original had never failed.

All work performed by an independent mechanic. I maintained the car using the "old school" method of oil changes every 7500 miles, other fluids changed often, MTL and Rear diff fluids changed at 50K. Only items other than fluid changes were brakes (F&R), spark plugs and of course tires. I had oil changes performed in between BMW's provided oil changes during the warranty period, and then on the 7,500 mile interval. Used BMW oil during the first 50K miles, Mobil 1 5W30 after. Price does not reflect replacing two wheels bent from potholes (approx. $700), insurance or gas.

With that, my pure maintenance expenses were approx. 7.2 cents per mile or $132.61 per month of ownership. As always YMMV.
