I do all the maintenance: preventative and break-down on my own to save ridiculous dealer or mechanic hourly charges. I mean in this world where information is at the tips of our finger 24/7 with a little instruction and some tools
You can easily maintain and rapair your bimmer with no problem. I have had my z3 for about 4 years now. On one occasion my water pump jammed causing mt radiator fan and shroud to break... The parts, quality German aftermarket mostly bosch cost me $150... Not bad huh.... Next I have changed the battery OEM $150. Next I just recently changed my transmission and rear axle fluids $58 in oils and tools. 4new tires Khumo 420(installed and balanced)An oil change costs me around $40 8auarts of Mobil 1 + filter.

So conclusion is: Always try to do your own maintenance.
