Stamping a different number on a part is a 'no cost option' for Bosch. The cost of a dealer part is higher because Bosch sell it to car maker 'X' - who sell it to their stealer network who hold it in stock as 'dead money' until you buy it. That is why it is more expensive. Buying direct from Bosch cuts out two 're-sales'. BMW never made a relay, fuse, globe, injector, starter etc etc in their lives. BUT they sold a few at a handsome proffit!! Bosch know what the spec for the part they built is/was. The Bosch part number will not change - OEM numbers do. For example my local stealer will charge $5 for a 12v 21w globe I buy for $1.50 (actual figures).

I've just changed my wiper blades and now my reverse lights don't work. Should I change my fuel pump relay?
