2. If you did NOT disconnect the negative battery cable before disconnecting ANY of the electrical connectors for the SRS (supplemental restraint system)...then this is probably why the SRS (airbag) light is illuminated. This warning is in just about every thread that deals with this issue...or anytime an airbag or seatbelt connection is discussed. Also, if you reconnect the battery cable and you still have an SRS electrical connector disconnected...this too will illuminate the light. The system sees this as a malfunctioning sensor...thus the light will need to be reset...there is no "driveway" or simple reset procedure for this light since it deals with a system that can be fatal for the car's occupants...and expensive for BMW through litigation. You will need to have a dealer reset the SRS light or puchase aftermarket equipment that SPECIFICALLY says that it can reset the SRS system.

3. Struts? They don't last forever.
