Not sure about the 640's but on the 650, you get the black tips with M-Sport and chrome tips with the standard package. At least that's what BMWNA advertised on the "Build Your Own"
I had a non M-Sport 650 cab that had the chrome tips and my now 650 M-Sport coupe has the black tips.
