You could roll the fenders (google it if you're never heard of it) if you really must have that stuffed-full-of-tire look. Otherwise you have answered your own question: Install a less aggressive spacer.

FYI, you are not doing your suspension or wheel bearings any favors and are causing premature wear. The only question is whether the expensive failures will happen before or after you part with the car.
