There is a 1 series electric being used by someone at work. We have plug-in stations in our car park. As far as I can tell, BMW are leasing the e-cars and collecting them when done to establish real world data on these cars before moving others forward commercially. I haven't had a chance to ask if the car has been "chipped" yet...
