As for T-Mobile, this is THE way to distinguish itself in the marketplace. Some people don't care how long they use the phone for until they die, or just get a used one from eBay or craigslist to keep expenses low. It's not a new concept outside of the US, but I wonder why it's slow to catch-on in this country.
