Plan B- exchange turn signals

your instructions were simple and straight forward enough. I got the amber lens that I want to use instead of the clear one that's on the 2001 740iL now. Found the hole, inserted the screwdriver, bumped into a few "other" wires or parts. I think I found the screw, and turned it approx 10-11 times, as per some other person suggestion, and it did not come loose. I didn't wanna go past the suggested number of turns, as I read that the screw mount will come out of the socket. But since I couldn't get the lens out after that number of rotations, my plan B is that I DO go past the 11 rotations and hopefully 2 things will happen. 1- the lens will come out and 2- the screw mount will also come loose. The questions is - will I be able to re-screw that part back into place, and subsequently be able to tighten the new amber lens in place ? Is my plan B do-able ? Or do you have any other suggestions.
