I don't know about a Z4, but a Z3 does not know when you change its oil.
On a Z3 you can stick a wire into the diagnostic port under the hood per these instructions:

Also for a Z3 you can buy a foolproof tool here. It is cheap but takes 3 weeks to arrive from China:

A similar procedure and tool probably exists for the Z4, but I don't know about them.
