Tough Night for Coupes
Your description of the damage indicates your car is totaled. Air bag deployment and big damage to the rear of the car (really expensive to fix) pretty much guarantee this. But the Coupe did it's job - you came through OK. Think about it for a minute, you walked away from a high speed wreck, that little car did well for you. Perhaps another one isn't all that bad an idea if you like the car.
I came across a nice stretch of black ice last night and got t-boned by an SUV (I couldn't go, he couldn't stop). Took a big hit to the ribs but I'll live. I'll find out tomorrow if the car can be repaired. I don't have a problem with a repaired coupe if it's done right, I hope this one can be fixed, I have plans for this car. Regarding the ease of sliding - it's a fairly light car with big tires and can hydroplane, but so can any car. Good tires in good shape are the only insurance I can think of.
