Cooling systems have always been a major weak spot on BMWs, which is why they need to be rebuilt every 75,000 miles or so. Overheating is the leading cause of death for BMW engines, so investing a few hundred bucks now will save you *thousands* in damages down the road.
You can buy rebuild kits online, here`s a good one : http://www.turnermotorsport.com/p-20...-3-series.aspx

It`s about 3 or 4 hours of labor for someone who is mechanically inclined.

PS: Add a coolant expansion tank to this kit, they *always* fail when you least expect it !
