In fact yes. The crema (foamy layer) on top of the espresso is thick and airy. The espresso itself is still thicker than coffee, since espresso is essentially a concentrated version of coffee, and has a lot of the bean oils in it. So it suppose to feel smooth and oily/creamy if it is made well.
