There are many vehicles (including BMW) that have used halogen bulbs in projectors.

Interesting. I never knew this. I will have to test it out  .
The other day I turned my automatic headlights on, and both the inside non HID, halogen lights were on along with the outer HID projector lamps. I switched it to the forced headlight setting, and only the standard HID projectors were on  .
