Mein Auto: 2011 M3 DCT
I had a 540 Msport (manual) and a 550 w/ SAT and now I own a DCT M3 so you can guess what my response will be. 1/2 of my driving has been done on manuals and one car was a DD which I also I ran 1/4 mile racer for many years. In my opinion, manual vs. auto is completely a personal preference. I did enjoy the 540 M-sport and did miss it when I went to the 545 but when I got the 550 SAT I found it to be a perfect medium for me. If I wanted to thrash it using the manual option i could. Just hit the sport button and switch it to DS and you have extremely fast and responsive shifts while giving you complete gear control(except for red line auto-shift). The 550 SAT is what lead me to compare the 6mt vs DCT in the M3 and I felt the DCT was by far the best choice. If you look at the 550 as a luxury race car, then the 6mt is your choice. If you want a sporty luxury car which can turn into a race car the the SAT is the choice.

I have HUD in my X5 and I love it but my M3 does not have it but then again the engine is worth not having the HUD. I drove my dad's 650 many times and he had night vision which I used once and that was about it. I would never pay to have this in my car. I had shades in the 545 and 550 and in my X5 but I don't miss the shades in my M3.
