In post 3 the OP said his dealer told him BMW would be introducing a retrofit ENGINE heater. I don't think such a part exists, so I was wondering if the dealer meant retrofit CABIN heater, be that ceramic, Webasto or something else.

I am just trying to help him decypher the dealer-speak. My guess is that either the dealer mis-spoke or that the OP mis-heard / misinterpreted what he said. I am TREMENDOUSLY skeptical that any retrofit engine heater is in the pipeline, and that said heater will solve his ongoing problems.
