After reading the owners manual, I find three ways around the ASS feature so I can live with it.
1) obviously turn it off when you first start the car.
2) press the brake hard after the first second you come to a complete stop. It will keep running.
3) if it does catch you by surprise and shut off, gently turn the steering wheel and it will restart. I like this feature because I can save some gas but still have it running just before the light turns green. You don't have to turn it far, just to the point where you feel the resistance; almost a gentle tug does it.
With these options at my disposal, I probably won't need to have it reprogrammed.
