I'm trying to figure out whether there is some REAL benefit to having wider tires on the rears in my x-drive car, not whether it can be done without causing problems, as you have clearly stated.

For example, is 80% of the power to the rear wheels upon acceleration from a stop, with only 20% to the front? Or is it always 50/50, with allowances for wheel slippage, cornering, etc. I would imagine handling might be a bit better as well with wider rears, but I'm not sure if the x-drive pretty much cancels that out. This is what I'm trying to get some knowledge on.
