I had this issue because I changed my oil and didn't know how to do the reset. This worked like a charm.......I had a problem at first because I didn't hold the trip-o meter until after turning the key to position 1 and so I came back and reread your comment about holding the button before turning to position 1 and it worked like a charm. Thanks
