So, what is going on? Anybody make sense of this failing only when it is 'cold'? Any guesses?
The problem is that it does not want to shift into 2nd gear. The RPM's will go high and then go into limp mode. I stop the car, wait a few seconds, restart, and everything is ok again. If the clutches were all replaced, valve body replaced, what is next?
I have seen some postings about alternator effecting a transmission but I hooked up a multimeter and see proper voltage. This is the original alternator and it does have a coat of oil on it from a leaking power steering hose clamp. Maybe this is worth a try but it really "sounds" like a mechanical problem.
I paid about $200 for the solenoid replacement and then paid $2400 for the rebuild. The guy replaced the valve body as "warranty repair" so I did not get charged for this. My guy is getting frustrated also. I am not thrilled about having to take the car down for repair.
