As we all know it is winter, and it is freezing out. My X5 for some reason can't stand the cold.. Everyday I go to a car and the door locks are frozen. Once I get in the door will not shut. I've tried spraying the locks. Nothing.... Any ideas anyone?....
Yeah, WD40 won't do a thing in freezing temps. As Patrick said above, you need lock de-icer. This used to happen all winter long with my previous car when I was living in Michigan. It was so bad that I had to carry a small bottle of de-icer in my coat pocket at all times. Works very well, though.
I picked some up. Its funny you say that. I have it in my jacket as well. I have key less entry but key remote died on me. I have to physicaly use the key. BMW want 253.00 for a new freaking key lol.
No I haven't tried that. BMW told me I had to just get a new key. I am so tempted to **** with the key. I'm just gonna wait to get the new one then try changing the battery myself. You gotta love key less entry. lol...
So is mine, but decadence is nice. When the temps are below 40 in the morning, heated seats and steering wheel (I know! try it sometime) make for a nice commute.
Hang on a second...I'm confused... they don't ALL have heated lock cylinders?
One of mine is a Florida car and even it still has them... If you look on a vin decoder (ie. http://www.rubmw.ru/vincode/eng/ ) This
S314A FRONTSCHEIBENWASCHDUESEN BEHEIZT Door mirror, driver lock, heated
is listed under "Standard Equipment", not "Optional Equipment".
Pull up on the door handle and hold for 30 seconds then wait a few moments. if it's not thawed do it a second time... should be nice and free.
LOL I was reading that option list too and thinking... WHAT?!?!? How did you get self levelling suspension, PDC, dip, XID... from the factory? on an e36??? I bought the wrong car!
I saw the wood and stuff and figured it was some kind of special order lux package at first but then I realized PDC... I don't think that was even around yet in '99.
But it still makes me wonder since the heated side mirrors and locks are listed as standard on both of my e36s and they're on opposite ends of the scale does that mean they are on ALL e36s?
