All right my people,
I'm looking at replacing my exhaust with something that has that Audi A8 sound (last time I mention that car company). I'm looking for that low, throaty sound. Quiet on the inside of car.
I know my system has duel exhaust back to rear axle. It then goes two into one and at the end you have two mufflers on the one pipe.
I was thinking of duel all the way back on the drivers side of car and both set of mufflers to get the sound I want. I've seen the kits, but I would hate to spend $1800-$3200 and not get the sound I want.
What's out there?
PR
Does anyone have another muffler suggestion, other than the MagnaFlow #14459? That's a glasspack style muffler. Want a regular type muffler with good sound.
I'm happy with it but you should check out pelonx1st's exhaust as well. He has a fully functional quad exhaust with an x-pipe and a muffler on each side.
That's the one. Past by it all the time. I was thinking about talking to them. Thanks for the address info. Somebody you know has used them? I'll give you an update when I stop by.
Stopped by AAA this morning on the way to work. Talked to Tino and then Phil. I told them what I was looking for and he recommended the cat/back. Installed with turn downs (I don't like tips showing), they quoted me $800.00. I think that's a great price, plus they will tune the exhaust to what my ears want to hear. I'm in next week. Very professional people to deal with so far. Clean shop and like you said, they know what their talking about. Thanks again Pdux72.
Pelon opened the doors and i just found the opportunity to share brudda ..
Keep us posted and take pics of everything that happens even the under carriage if you can.
I may be making a trip down from Portlandia to have mine done. Theres nobody up here!
Will do. I'll bring my dig camera and shoot what I can. I'm torn between exhaust or iPod install with Paper. Both would be music to my ears... I can only do one at a time. Not money fat.
Amen to that! I had a tough choice when Paper was sellin an 07 MMI but had to jump on it and should be here tomorrow... Gotta be prepared when i do finish the Ipod. Im sure its gonna be sweet either way..
What he's going to do for me is test different mufflers in the system. Plug them in and I listen and approve or dis-approve. I like the sound of the Audi A8. So to get close to the same sound response, we have to play until we get the right sound. Tips make a difference too, but I prefer no tips.
That sounds to be fun, what types of muffler are you going to try out, I have been looking at Borla myself .. I have a 2008 550i with the sports exhaust, I want something a little more, maybe I should go the Borla route.. Let me know what you decide ... Excited for ya
Thanks. I can't wait to get exhaust sounds. He mentioned a stainless steel muffler brand, but I don't remember. I'll make sure I get all the proper info and take some pictures. Borla could be pricey. Let me see what they come up with and I'll let you know.
What was the outcome with your exhaust system change (Borla, Cat Back, Stainless Steel, etc)? I'm hearing a crackling noise from my exhaust after a cold start and I'm considering crossing over to the BORLA exhaust system. Let me know something. Thanks.
Kingbrock007,
This week is exhaust week for me. I'm going to AAA muffler in my area. I talked to the guys and what I'm going to do is dual from the rear axle back. They are willing to try different mufflers until I get the sound I'm looking for. I'll take photos and sound bites for the site. I'll also let you know the mufflers I use. They said around $800.00. I don't like tips showing, so that price is without tips.
I had my exhaust done yesterday and I'm very happy. The only thing I need to work on is a harmonic between 1500-1800RPM. That causes a minor rumble inside the car. I have sound and video I'll try to post tomorrow. The guys at AAA Exhaust are great.
Had my exhaust done a couple of days ago. Cost was $650.00 and AAA Exhaust was great. We tried three mufflers made by Custom Engineering. I picked the middle muffler in sound. They installed a crossover tube and I don't like tips so mine is tucked under. They said it takes 3-4 days before the true sounds breaks in. Not the best at pic's and video, but check out the links below.

I'll work on better sound bites. Tried with the cell phone out the window. No go. I'll get it. Sounds great under acceleration!
