I am in the market for a newer car. Currently I have an 07 Honda civic si. When I was about to buy my car, I built a 135i, but the waiting list was 6 months. So now, I am looking for one. I found a few, but I need you 1ers to tell me if these are good or not. I found 3 cars with the same packages (convertible, prem, sport, cold weather). The 135 has NAV.
08 135i with 36k miles (no warranty) asking 24k.
10 128i with 21k miles asking 27
09 328i with 36k asking 27
which one would I like to drive? I am not a crazy driver, but like to take a corner here and there. Should I worry and buy extended warranty? this will push the 135 to 26k.
1. 10 128i - i would not pay 27K for it. KBB says 21K in excellent condition with base options. Of course that number could go up if it has more options, m package etc.
2. 08 135i - The price is probably right but the fact it has 36K on it suggests to me that it still has 14K miles of the original factory warranty on it. If that is the case may be bought as CPO which will extend you to 100K. If really no warranty then this car is off the list for me.
3. 09 328i - KBB says 25K so you might be able to get them to wiggle a little. Ask for CPO if it is from a dealer. this will take you to 100K warranty.
All three are great cars. The one i think is the most fun is the 135i. Remember CPO is your firend and make them pay for it.
Since BMW fixed the fuel pump problems, the reliability ratings (according to Consumer Reports in North America) is now about the same between the 128i and 135i.
now the 135i convertible dropped to 22860. Very tempting.
