I really like the LED Corona headlamps and the darkened taillamps. Is it possible to retrofit these to our cars? Does anyone have any ideas?

Looks fracking OUTSTANDING!

So how much for everything in US $ and this seems like an "expert level" install no? Meaning not just anyone could perform this. Amount of time for actual install?
This modification and the simple HP & Torque gain for little $ makes me want a F01 even quicker....

Very expensive, you're right! But we don't have such a sweet offers for a leasing like you, guys! New 750 costs here around $200 000, we can '10 750 as low as $60-70'000 so it's more interesting for us to invest around $15'000 into LCI mods to get "newer" car instead of buying new one.

Oh do they?

I opted out of the LED lights on a 7 I have on order now. I'm not a fan of the yellowish halos on the xenons, but once I saw the look of white LED bulbs in the xenons I was much happier with that than parting with £2000 for the LEDs for the sake of a little extra eye candy (I say I, of course I mean "she")

I didn't realise the facelift model came with white/blue halos from the get go. Good to know!

Point taken, it actually is some very cool tech, not seen that video before. Alas, something I can ultimately live without (and will certainly have to now, too late to change my mind)

Something I can't live with (and you can call it vanity, because that's exactly what it is...) is spending £70k on a new car with the IMO dated stock orangey lamps!

(And come on now, 132 posts in this thread and I don't see one saying how much better the LED lamps are because they will be so much safer in the dark ;) )

To each his own i guess. they didnt offer leds back when i was ordering but i wanted them since they were introduced. so im retrofitting them this week.

I just want to know... What is the absolute best option for changing out the yellow ass eyes to the brightest hid/LED type eyes with no errors, no burning out the factory wiring or any other issues. Getting as close to the look of the new 5er eyes...???
I mean I've been yo close and personal with a F01 and the eyes are in a word. Painful.

Too bright !!

Did you find that the LED headlights are brighter than the Xenon ones?
I'd love to do this as a retrofit to my 740.

I have a 2010 with adaptive xenon - do you keep the adaptive mode with the retrofit? What about the high-beam assist? I've seen on the Adaptive LED video that the light splits when it sees an oncoming car - does this function work on the retrofit? Do you need to update the onboard computer also?

I've seen the parts list but I'm just wondering if there may be more that's needed to get the full functionality from these headlights?

Amazing retrofits (I love the full lcd instrument cluster) too...

Also for me the whole concept of retrofitting is that you can add the options you would have chosen if you'd have bought the car new (I didn't).

@BaranE - do you ever get to the UK? Finding people here who'll attempt a retrofit like this is difficult !! If I get the parts maybe you could have a holiday here and help me with the retrofit at the same time :)

Thank you for sharing this with us.

Man I am blown away... They are STUNNING!!! Really like nothing else on the road!

Congrats on one of the best mods I've ever seen performed on any 7 Series. And THAT is saying alot. ;)

I am interested to know the details on 'coding' or any body modifications? Did the units simply bolt right in and fit or was modification needed?
Any modification inside to control the lights? It would seem to me that one would need to be a "specialist" in car electronics and installation to even attempt this...

Thank you. But im not the genious behind it. its actually bimmertech. headlights were exact fit. had to change a couple of plugs on the wiring though.

you're right. it's like nothing on the road. i was actually stopped yesterday because cops thought my low beams weren't turned on. i had to explain to them that the middle only lights up with high beams and the corona is actually both low beam/drl.

Thanks I'll drop Patrick an email. I really like what you've done on the install, one of the best...actually no - it's the best retrofit I've seen.

I looked at a 730d with the LED headlights before I got this - I really wanted the 740d though...actually I wanted a 750d xdrive but since BMW refuse to make a RHD one I've gone with this... happy so far :)

*** But if BMW are listening then...either make a RHD xdrive 7 series or better still convince the UK we should go LHD ***

Yeah - I looked at a 750i but decided to get the 740d - mainly around the cost and availability of the diesels in Europe...

It's actually a really good engine...sure probably not as quiet as the 750i but much quieter than my last car WV Phaeton V10 TDI - that engine was so noisy in comparison.

Besides in the UK the cost of fuel is so expensive - £1.45 ($2.20) per litre !! So it also came down to the cost to run the car too. Also the UK the roadtax is £475 ($720)/ year if I'd have got the 750i - the 740d is less than half the cost per year in tax alone...

Actually - reading the above - I've got to ask why I'm still living in the UK !!??
High prices, bad weather, no xdrive... !

Dude preach to the choir. I pay 4.96 TRY (nearly 3 USD) per liter of gasoline, which actually is the most expensive in the world. My road tax is also much higher, nearly 3000USD per year. Diesel&petrol have no effect on the taxes here. Taxation is based on the engine displacement only.
