I was thinking of getting one of these put in my next car. Which i hope is this 97 740il i been looking at.. So if anyone has one of these installed tell me if they are wearth the money. i seen the kits on ebay and amazon for good price... But i know it will keep for someone stealing your car cause they will need the keys and if they dont know where ur push button is they cant start the car..... How long you does it take to put one in...?
heres the link http://www.ebay.com/itm/250866588082?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649
You don't need one of these as anti theft. Quite separately from the keys/alarm/immobiliser, the computer allows you to set a PIN, that has to be input to start the car, even if you have gained access to the car with a key.
IMO stay away from add-ons like the one you describe. They can trigger untold problems in computer sensitive 7's. As previously posted the car has several anti-theft devices that even insurance company's like.
thanks guys i needed this info too.... i will look at the stock stuff and see what i can find out... but dont i need the stock head unit to use that pin code crap... cause the stock head unit dont work for sh1t.. and its a tape player and i been looking for a stock head unit cd player n my price range but nothing. plus i want to add my aftermarket amp to my car so yea. idk help please
thanks... well dont need push start then.. but for the aftermartket head unit... i got one from eonon.. i seen them on other bmw forums and ppl say they really good some problems here and their but eonon will help you fix them asap..
I don't think you understand the set up. The monitor/headunit is only that (apart from the tape player). All other modules - radio, dsp, tv, nav, cd player are in the trunk. The whole arrangement is really all or nothing. Unless you truly know what you are doing with audio, leave well alone.
and i own my own car audio business so its not a problem.. and but i dont have dsp n my car so i dont have a amp... from when i heard and read only some 7 series had dsp and it wld be on dash... but the car im looking at dont have it so good.. the head unit is the easy thing to change without all that other wiring stuff.. but thanks for the help tho
I doubt if the E39 type unit in the link will fit, as the cd player will probably foul the A/C ducting. The E38 head units have the cassette player block offset to the left on L/H drive cars and vice-versa, specifically to overcome this problem.
naw already made the deal with the owner for the car just have to go pick it up... been busi working and waiting on my tax money to come n. and as for the head unit. well see from what i got in from bsw. it shldnt hit nothing from what they know and got from other people. but i will see when i get it in
picking up 740il tomorr... i will have my tech dude look it over and tell me whats really wrong. the owner wants it gone. so shes selling it to me for 1115. huh... sounds good but idk. well see if i made out.
just got back from buying car.... had my tech dude look at it.. it has a couple of codes mis fire codes and o2 sensor code and cat code.... but when cars on only three codes lol... no trans code. but old owner said it said trans fail or some sh1t like that. but my tech dude aint find that code
thanks that mite be what she mite cause it took it a min. to start when i tryed to start it
