To make it easier for you guys to understand if you have a 06 750 then you can add Aux if you Have a 745 then you need to buy a ask unit from 06 to 08

#55 ·
I do believe the link is posted on here somewhere.

my ask unit was manufactured in early 06 so it doesn't support the AUX function.
i bought an exact same ASK unit on ebay that was manufactured in 07 and will try it out this weekend.
does anybody know if i need to do any type of programing to the new ASK unit or is it just plug and play? (my MMIGT already has the aux option turned on and i can see it in the entertainment menu)

any one know what problem code 1890 on a 745i 2003
I'm not sure why you would come into a topic about radio auxiliary
& ask a question about fault codes ???

here is your answer , & if you have any more questions the search
feature is your friend , Or you can make your own topic .

This topic has nothing to do with fault codes
So please keep your questions out of this topic !!!

P1890 trans control usually caused by low or unusual voltage ,
Also Speed change control linear solenoid valve failure &
Transmission failure .

Ok i have missed any think
I have AUX showing in my MMI I have removed the ask and plugged the new cable in. I have changed the wiring on the plug to the correct pins. I have not sound out the aux. Also in the MMI I click on AUX and I still see my fm presets on middle screen. Could it be that my car is a 06 even thou it has a facelift the ask will not work. Any way to update the firmware on the ask?

I have checked realoem and the same part number is from 03/05 so it should work unless its software.

Ok not sure what you mean
"aux items not come out "

Are you talking about the auxiliary Feature on
Your MMI screen ???

You must code your MMI , the feature does
Not show up just by adding the auxiliary plug .

You can use NCS to add that feature to your MMI.

No prob happy to help out .
When you use NCS you want to read
Your MMI , then look for the line that
Says Aux & set it to aktiv . Then write
It back to the car .

After that you should be all set.

Is this kit compatible with my 2006 760LI

I have trunk NAVI03
dvd changer on trunk
6 cd/mp3 changer at front
1 cd ask

the aux option is not on my menu ( It will show it after you install the cable )

Thank you, your video is very good
No you also need to have your MMI coded
So the auxiliary option shows up on the screen .

This seems like a much cheaper solution if you have a stock 2003 E66. I have an electronics background and can wield a soldering iron like a ninja. You removed the radio from the right c-pilar, then opened it up and tapped in to the line-out from the radio, correct?
:dunno:

If so, I would like to do this. I dont need details on running the Aux to the front. I know about shielding and using a relay/switch to switch between the Aux and Radio. Simple crap like that I can figure out on my own.
:eek:uch:

What I need are pictures to show where to cut the traces and where the signals are. If you have them, will you share?
Contact the OP he lives in your area an I'm sure he would be willing to help you.

No , some coding is needed to add aux to your MMI Screen .
You would need the correct cable & NCS Expert for the coding .

PAPER, I have been trying to find a way to install a AUX port in the car ever since I got it. The only option was to remove the 6 CD Changer and install an iPOD adaptor. And this cost $1200…so I stayed away. But I found your post and WOW great JOB!!!

I have since bought the AUX mod and changed the sequence to 2,7,8 and installed it in my car. The AUX category didn’t come up so I guess I have to use NCS expert and do some programming.

Thanks again!!!

ok let me try to be clearer for you . When you push the I-drive knob
& select Aux , what shows up on the screen ?
Does the Aux volume control show up & can you adjust it ?

Also take a pic of the screen with your phone & post it up so
I can see what is on your screen .
