If you're hesitating to purchase a BMW pre-owned car, then this news is likely to push you into buying one. BMW of North America is improving its no-cost maintenance plan and is adding two years or 50,000 miles on select certified pre-owned 2007 models sold between Feb. 2 and March 31.

This upgrade gets activated when a new-car transferable four-year or 50,000-mile warranty expires. BMW customers who qualify include certified pre-owned 2007 3-Series, 5-Series and 7-Series. They are eligible to receive the no-cost maintenance plan upgrade that raises the warranty to six years or 100,000 miles.

Russ Lucas, manager of BMW Pre-Owned Sales, said that this is the "bread and butter" and "the heart" of its lineup. He added that these stand for 45% of its sales. He anticipates that there will be more sold within the next 60 to 90 days.

The plan covers the following: all service inspections, oil service, wiper blades, and normal wear and tear, like oxygen sensors and brake and clutch replacements. Without a maintenance plan, the owner would have to cough out at least $1,800 for these services in over two years.

The deal depends on standard BMW Financial Services rates. In a statement, BMW said that it intends to entice more customers to BMW's used car business, particularly those who may still have reservations about the reliability and overall value of certified pre-owned cars.
