I have a 2006 X5 4.4I and when I move the heat controll valve in the front to the red the air does not get warm. The rear gets warm no problem. Anybody got any ideas?
Remove the 2 screws inside the middle bottom of each vent to remove the full thing. I think the hot/cold system is on a belt or cable which has probably come off and stuck on cold.
This is assuming the left and right face heaters are hot. If they are not you have different issues..
Yes, off memory the 3rd slot from each side. Get a torch on it and you will see them. Once the screws are removed it just pulls out. Be sure not to drop a screw down the vent or you'll have a rattling X5 for life!
Well I had the cable on the vent controll checked out and everything is connected. I replaced the heater controll valve to no avail. I did find out that if I put the vent settings on the upper and floor area I get warm air when the vehicle is sitting still and at low speeds. When I get going up past 45-55 mph I get cool air through the vents. My temp guage is reading normal and the coolant temp is 187 degrees F. When I slow down or stop at a traffic signal the air gets warm again. Don't know what to make of it. may have to take to a mechanic.
What about not getting warm through the dash vents at any speed?
