:yikes: i would like to replace my stock radio with an in dash cassette/cd or just cd player.
was told at a shop that cd player would not work because of verticle location.
is this true? what about istalling changer in trunk? would intstall unit from Cructhfield.
also circulation fan in dash is not working. is this an easy fix?
thanks!
I was always under the impression that, at least for CD changers, orientation doesn't matter - but I haven't really used a CD player or changer in a car in years.
I don't know if you are thinking of changing the in-dash stereo, but you might want to get one that supports direct connection of an iPod.
i recently put a new cd player in my 82 323i and because of the vertical angle it will not play cd's. i was aware of this at purchase and also bought a ipod interface so this isnt really a problem
you can also go with tape deck and cd changer combo.....it will be close to period, well inside of the car...good luck on your system up-grade........cheers...
Don't most automobile CD changers/players have a switch you can set to the orientation as its mounted in your car (horizontal or vertical)? The OEM CD changer in my 540 has a switch like this. Bottom line, if it is 'switchable', it shouldn't make any difference.
