Not so fast... If you click on the link to download the standard options and equipment file it lists the new engine for 2013, so your guess is as good as mine. The current info on the standard or specifications link doesn't specify the year:
interestingly enough, the features and specs till also mention VANOS and Valvetronic (the 2010-2012 did not have valvetronic). I suspect it was just a change because of the number of other times 400 hp was mentioned, and they really don't have a clue about what it is. Either they forgot to take that out (probable) or they forgot to change other things.
BMW NA REALLY needs to step up to the plate and ANNOUNCE what is what. The webpage release is backfiring.
What is the difference whether you lease or own, you still lose the money spend on it. Performance mods almost never are worth money on a used car. In fact, most of the time it will make the car harder to sell.
There is no engine change for 2013. All the information on the BMW USA website has been reverted back to 400hp/450lbs/ft. Administrators have confirmed with BMWUSA that the N63Tu will only be available for 550i GT.
I still find it interesting that we are supposedly getting valvetronic. If there was no change, that should have been removed as well. Just shows how little BMWNA knows.
The 535 also says "Double-VANOS and Valvetronic" in the specifications. Are you sure this wasn't always the case? I can't remember if it said the same thing on the 2012, but I believe it did.
So strange that they're going to continue building both versions of the engine. Usually when a TU version comes out it supplants the previous engine in all models. Would think it just adds complication
I'm not a fan of rolling dynos, since one measures 620hp for the M5, while another measures 553hp for the M5. That's a huge amount of measurement error. Which one are we to believe?
