I just did a DIY water pump replacement on my 2003 X5 4.4i. While in there replaced the a/c belt, and the thermostat. Cleared the codes so that the therm gauge wouldn't read in the red automatically anymore, but now there is a clicking in the engine compartment that gets faster with acceleration. Any ideas what this might be? A tension pulley? Fan Clutch? I am at a loss. Any help is greatly appreciated.
After using an automotive stethoscope we determined that it is an exhaust leak. Yippy now for how to fix it. Might be time to just take it to the shop. The leak is coming from the passenger side of the engine compartment.
Anyone know where I can find drawings for the Exhaust manifold?? Clicking turned out to be an exhaust manifold leak...
