Question SMG tranny questions

Have a friend contemplating an E60 purchase. It has SMG and she wants to know the extent of the adjustability. I told her that it should have a few modes to select from in both auto and shift modes. I am a total tard when it comes to this trans so would like to know how well suited it can be for her. She isn't too interested in shift-on-your-own but would like the upshifts in auto to be smoother. Can the trans be adjusted for this? She just wants to cruise around and not notice gear changes much. Tks.

I'm sure she can find an auto somewhere. Better to wait and get what you want then to be unhappy.

Exactly. Here is a description of folks who should get SMG:
* Seek peak performance and sportiness
* Enjoy doing their own shifting
* Enjoy the "cool factor" of SMG
* Occasionally gets stuck in rush-hour traffic or needs to use the phone
* Non-stick-trained driver may occasionally drive the car
* Did I mention, "enjoy doing their own shifting"?

BTW, putting it in sport mode makes the shifts smoother, but it still blows chunks compared to even the worst automatic transmission.
