I so wish I could do summin like that, here in the UK it seems that bimmer owners arent very united, It would be great to go on a drive with you guys, and talk about the cars, it'd be a blast. Infact, it almost completes my long list of reasons to emigrate to the US

Hmm..aren't the Brits as passionate as the Germans are in terms of driving? In fact, I do wish to take a trip to UK and Europe soon, mainly to salivate over Alpina cars...

If you got a chance, take the B3 for a test drive soon..

I got to test an Alpina B10 V8, god that car was something, almost the best car ive ever driven (Best was a Jag XJR V8), whats the B3, 3.0??

Oh my gosh! you tested a B10 V8???? That 4.6L beast. B3 is for the E46/E36 models. 3.3L to be exact. Alex Baumann tested one last year..and he loves it too.

Tell me more about the B10 V8, in particular to throttle response, suspension, cornering and handling. I heard that Alpina fine-tuned all these parameters.

The car was absolutely incredible. Its funny you mention throttle responce, as this was the only weak point of the car. Ive noticed with all the V8's, theres this hesitance moving off the line. This was not as bad as a 540, but still hesitant. But once that car got going, my god, the power and torque is breathtaking, it really is scary. It would feel even quicker if it wasnt so refined. It had 35 section tyres, but still rode well. Cornering, you definately feel the weight compared to the 330i, but its weird. As you turn in to a fast corner, you expect the car to roll, but it doesent. The speed you can cary through corners is bloody frightening. Steering feel was very good, but defininately not as good as the 530i. I think it uses the recirculating ball steering rack, as opposed to the rack of the 530. I Love the Alpina wheel it had, well feel wise, I didnt like the look very much. I honestly cant imagine the M5 being much better than the B10.

I drove it today, although in a rental.. hope you get better luck than I did, there were quite a few cars on the road today. I also tried Topanga Canyon which was also busy (many cyclists too). Maybe I just had one of those days.

Drove 152 to get back to Palo Alto (152 is off of I5.. I think). That is a fun fun fun road to cruise.

Who else is interested??

I am pushing back the time a little bit actually. Trust me, it's worthy to wake up early! Besides, Monday is MLK holiday!
