e34 525 exhaust system
can anyone help me with this post???
purchased a genuine e34 525 m50 one piece exhaust (muffler) assembly for my e34 520 m50.(don't ask, I like the twin pipe look and don't believe the b**ls**t about most after market systems - OEM is best!!). The replacement cat is the same for both, and dimension wise the two sytems are similar enough not to make any difference, apart from the following!! having bought the bolt on hangers and various other bits, its now time to sort out the extra welded-on bracket on the rear subframe. to this end (due to lack of suitable cars in my local breakers) could some one please either post a picture of the brackets fitted on their 525, preferably with a ruler for sizing, paying particular attention to the pipe side bracket, or has anyone actually got some drawings out there?? any help would be most appreciated tony"i suppose i could have bought a 525 instead" pope |

Just a question...
you only do this for the twin pipe look?? Then why not just saw of the twin pipes of the muffler and weld them on your own muffler?? |

e34 exhaust
and how would that work?
its a twin pipe system through the cat......the only route to take and not bodge it is to fit a 525 system, with twin pipes all the way! its not just for the look, the car needs a new system and this one was too good to miss - still had the stickers on it, and rather than buy some aftermarket jobby i've gone this route .... i could have just fitted a 'max power/halfords special big bore soopadoopa' tailpipe trim, or done as you suggested! |

Sorry that I miss understood... So you need pictures of the whole exhaust system mounted under the car? Especialy from the mounting points? I will see what I can do for you tomorrow. Allthough I have a Touring, the exhaust and mountingpoints are the same... |

e34 exhaust!
no problems, Rody
the areas I'm really interested in are the mounting points to the rear of the middle box, with particular attention to the pipe side mount, coming off the subframe - this is the one I've got to manufacture myself then weld/bolt to the subframe member. If you could chuck a ruler of something to allow me to scale it (albiet roughly) into the photo, that would be brilliant thanks in advance, tonypope Last edited by tony pope; 11-23-2005 at 07:45 AM.
