Hi all...
I have the BMW alarm / central locking unit install. It has been working fine for about a year. Today, the alarm still chirps correctly (one for arm and two for disarm), but the door locks are not locking. I recall reading something about this, but I've searched through various archives and can't find it. Does anyone have a clue as to what might be the problem? Also, if I lock the car by either pressing the lock into the door or by using the key and then I use the alarm remote, the following happens: 1) If the doors are locked and I disarm, they unlock. 2) If the doors are locked and I arm, they also *unlock*! Under no circumstances could I get them to lock. The fuses all look good. Help! BTW, the locks DO work. Locking one door locks the other. Thanks, /greg p.s. I guess I should mention it is a '99 M Roadster. |

Tonight, I pulled the glove box and had a look. I disconneted and reconnected the fuse (10amp I think), the connector that looks like a head phone jack (mini-din?) (microphone?) and the funky, one-wire connector that I can't describe.
After doing that, I tested and it worked again. Hmm.... Bad connection? Obviously, but which one, if any, of the ones that I touched? Well, next time it happens, I at least know to try one at a time. /greg |

Congratulations!
I installed the BMW alarm/central locking on my 01, but I didn't have a clue to offer you about yours malfunctioning. Glad you're back in business.
