Both of my classics. The Z will be staying home.

76 Inka '02 Don't have to drive very far though...How about a "Classic Cruise" for the older models. No spinouts allowed..

Depends on when you are coming down.. I am thinking about trying to meet up with one of the caravans (north or south) about an hour or two from SB and joining with them back to SB. Maybe not, but thinking about it. Need a place to stay?? let me know.

In a word: Ninjas.

In a story: The 1st US owner imported her from Holland. Then sold it to my friend who is selling it to me (next week). With the whole DOT: 25 years for exemption and EPA: 21 years for exemption. The 1st US owner got it over here some how.

Would you like to hear about my importing my US Spec Z4 from Korea to the US? That's a tale for the ages... Customs, damaged car, insurance claim, scum, a triumph over evil.. it's all there.

I am not a fan of US Customs. Glad someone else got this car through.

Oh, and my 2002 is running better now. I'll have both cars at the Fest.

Hmm that's a new one, a touring from Holland... great thing... My wife did the same thing with me, she imported me from holland too... I don't know how I got around the INS but I have a greencard now and I'm allowed to stay till 2014...
I know what you went through with your Z4, when I moved here from Holland in 2000, I wanted to bring my 1999 Porsche 911 GT3... Took all my papers etc to see if they could help me get the car here, but after all was said and done, it would have cost me around $25k plus the Ruff muffler system needed to be replaced... So I have sold it in the Netherlands... My friend that bought it back in 2001 from me has recently sold it...
Are you bringing the Touring to the fest...?

Went to pay for the 2000 Tii Touring tonight.

Unfortunately, the rear frame and the body were no longer connected. They had rusted apart. A total deal breaker.

So, my 2002 is just going to get a few upgrades and some restoration.

- Brake slave and brake booster replacement
- Replace all seals/weather stripping
- 5-speed or 4-speed upgrade (not sure what one to do)
- bumpers re-chromed.

Everything's gonna be alright.

So Sorry, no 2000 Tii Touring at the show from me. Just my '69 2002. Sorry all. But the Touring is UNSAFE.

Yes I did! I ran across them by accident recently and was quite suprised!!!! I am really looking forward to this year's Bimmerfest and I have gathered quite a few more folks this year with the classics. Some were a little upset last year from being shut out, but I have assured them that this year will be different. Sorry to hear there won't be a post-show drive this year-but I do understand your feelings about it. Nonetheless, i am sure you will have a great venue for us this year.

Cheers,
Ron

Pinoysche send an email to Mobile Tradition at: Andreas.Harz@partner.bmw.de with the VIN. Andreas will give you the build date, original color, and original dealer/importer. They will also be able to tell you what type of car it really is. Badges aren't everything.

VINs on 2002s are on the frame, the VIN plate, the crankcase, and the steering column. (European cars do not have the VIN on the steering column.)

Get a magnet to test for Bondo. Check the spare tire well for rust, too (don't be afraid to take the tire out).

Check http://www.BMW2002faq.com for more info on 02 cars.
