Only kidding, but really curious as to what you guys wear or own. No offense. $20 watches keep great time and make that 330i and insurance more affordable.
But I love watches, too. Often, a man's only jewelry (no offence to the women on the board). The Bimmer is great and overpriced. And fine timepieces are great and overpriced. My Bimmer timepiece is a stainless Daytona (white face, Rolex movement, solid links, 72 hour power reserve, excellent automatic movement, no battery). It's a chronograph and was first made popular by Paul Newman, Italian pilots and other afficonados. Supply of the stainless is limited to two or four per year per dealer. They cost more than the two-tone (i.e., part gold) Daytonas. Supply, demand, and taste. If I want another chic magnet to go with the Bimmer, I wear my two-tone sub with blue face. It's the only watch I own that gets noticed by the general public ---- whether in NY, Vegas, or Paluckaville. But, hey, a Casio, Omega, Tag, Monaco (I might want one of these) are all fine. Hey, they keep time as well as any gold watch. What do you wear? Hey, your watch will outlast your car. I know Rolex is looked down on by some. They like Patek, Lange, and look down on Rolex --- but my money's on Rolex due to resale and longevity. Not to say I don't like Patek, Lange, etc... Anyone else have a different second vice? Collecting digital cameras, great audio equipment (in car or not), investment grade folding knives, matchbooks or something? Last edited by akula57; 03-13-2006 at 04:46 PM. |

You don't have a former life as a CIS Submarine captain by any chance?
On the subject, watches are my vice, along with the two cars (03 E46 and 1967 Mini Cooper S). I have a blue dial Oyster Sub in gold/stainless, a Citizen Aqualand analog thats about a hundred years old (or seems like it; its for Diving) a Luminox Navy Seal watch (cool tritium hands), and a (yes) Timex Ironman triathlon (with attached Suunto wrist compass). |

Stainless Steel Rolex Daytona.
Nothing wrong with a $20 Timex, BTW. |

No bimmer yet, but it should match quite nicely Note: Crappy pic, digi cam is busted and refuses to focus. |

says something about the driver/wearer.
and one should not IMHO use the phone when driving --- such drivers in my congested area drive slowly, dangerously, and are breaking the law. my arm feels off without the satisfying weight of a fine watch on my wrist. (almost as good as a steering wheel.) and I get to keep it on when I leave the car.

Amen to that.
I'm into Randalls, Baers, Browns, NHC's and WC's. Cocked, locked & ready to rock. |

I was looking into a new titanium chronograph for myself and stumbled upon this:
http://www.amazon.com/Zenith-96-0529.../dp/B001K3IXW8 It is 55% and I might be able to grab it if I bring a lunch to work next week instead of dining out. The reviews are stellar - what do you guys think?

Seen that before. I'm not sure how you can turn down a deal like that. Hmm . . . new 6-er coupe or a watch . . .

Its like the review I read of someone who stayed at The Mandarin hotel in NYC for $1200/night and complained because they were charged $5-10 for internet on top of that. I guess with that watch its already so deeply discounted at 55% off that they can't take the hit on the shipping cost to eat into their profit margin.

Two-tone Rolex Datejust here. Thinking about getting a Tag Formula 1 to knock around with on the weekends.

Explorer II, Oyster perpetual, Datejust (thought there were too many non-divers wearing submariners...). It was my 40th birthday present from my wife - six years ago.
