Accessory sockets not active when car is off!

On my old E46 the power to the accessory plugs stayed on when the car was off. I loved this feature since cell phones could then be left in the car to charge.
I was shocked and dissappointed to find that the E90 dosn't do that anymore.

they are on if the car is off, but you press the On/Off button.

another weird problem, my radio keep shutting itself down if the car is off. this happened to me last time I waxed my car with the music on, and it seems to shut off every hr or so. is this a feature to save battery or my car has problem (nothing new with BMW uhh? )

It's a battery save feature.

You can purchase an adaptor for the glovebox. It plugs into the flashlight socket and is always powered....with the car on or off. They cost under $10 from the dealer.
