Is there a hard top that will fit my M3 vert?
I know they are both rare and expensive. Unfortunately the only reference I can find online is What distinguishes the Australian-market E36 M3 Anniversary Edition? Your knowledge is appreciated!

Hardtop for your M3
Hi,
I own the exact same car and the hardtop you are asking about. I bought this a couple of years ago, had the inside completely restored, and had it painted estoril blue by a BMW dealership's body shop, which did it all perfectly. I might consider selling the hardtop if you are interested, as I'm considering selling the car later this year. Please let me know if you're interested... |

Check out www.realoem.com. Definitely available, definitely expensive.

I have owned a couple E36's with hardtops and they are well worth the purchase. Just be sure that when you get the top you either remove the parts for the top that you need (4 bolts, 2 hatch latches that the bolts hold on (2 bolts per latch) and the wiring harness if you are able. It runs the rear defogger and the inside light.
You can buy the kit seperately too and it is around 150 bucks. Don't drive and pick the top up without the hatches installed because you might lose the top as in have it blow off. I used a Harken hoist rigged from my garage so I could remove and install the top myself using one hand to raise and lower the top. It worked really well and was worth the 150 bucks or so for the hoist. Just a suggestion because it litterally takes about 2 minutes to remove or install the top this way with no help from anyone. |
