What is a Wiki?

A "wiki" is a collective of knowledge that is editable by anyone. Please do not take this lightly: You all have the power to edit information that is there. Simply login with your bimmerfest login/password and hit the edit button. Please only add relevant information, make sure it is well organized, and make sure it's correct (alternatively, make corrections to incorrect data).

I plan on treating this E46 Wiki as a dynamic FAQ. I'd like it to become the #1 E46 resource on the 'net, replacing all 'sticky' threads, as well as adding all information that people typically ask (upgrades, maintenance, etc).

I'll slowly be moving the 'sticky' threads into the Wiki, so if you see a sticky disappear, that's where it went!

I'll try to develop a good structure/table of contents/formatting template there in the next few days that will make it easier for individuals to add content themselves.

You guys need to enable account creation in LocalSettings.php. As far as I know, MediaWiki doesn't do account sharing, but you could probably import accounts using a SQL statement.

MediaWiki does actually allow for replacing the security it uses. I just logged into it using my account and another test vb account that I set up. I am not sure why some people would not be able to log in

Can anyone else try it and let me know if it works for them?

I just tried. It is saying my User ID does not exist in the system.

Just wanted to thank the wiki. I couldn't find my first set of keys and had to search and use second key. That wasn't working, the key reprogram information helped me use the second key.

Any chance we can add recalls, software updates, and the like to the Wiki? I'm wondering if there is anything else I should look out for with my new purchase...

"We" certainly can - everyone has full wiki edit access. Someone just needs to compile the info and add it!

I tried to log in to see if I could add Z4 content last week and was not able to. Neither my user name nor my email address was recognized.

Thank you for the hard work on this Wiki. I headed here first, vice repeating n00b questions.

Same issue here too at 8:31am 5/28/2007.

ok.. I've added info on CDV, clutch stop, alarm, and troubleshooting the DSC/Brake/ABS lights illuminating.

Thanks for the tremendous effort you invested in putting together this Wiki. Used the info to reprogram my key--worked perfectly the first time.

Looks like BMW325i.net is no more. We've lost a few good DIY write-ups, to include manual and differential oil changes, for which we have no other write-ups linked.

I am thinking BMW would try to have it shut down since it will save alot of us from taking the trip to the dealership and grabbing our ankles .
