Of course I have power seats and I have the upgraded 20-way seats. My front passenger seat is jammed and won't move forward or backward and is stuck all the way back. With a baby on the way, i need that seat to move a little forward so the baby seat will fit. The motor is working and I looked at it and found that there are two rails; a left and right. The left is sliding fine but the right will not budge. I tried prying it, lubricating it, etc. but to no avail. I don't want to spend extra money on getting this fixed with a baby on the way. Any ideas what it is and how I can fix it myself?

Will the seat go up? maybe you can get a better look at the tracks and see if maybe something jammed in it like a dime or something from someones pocket.

All other functions of the seat work. I did try moving it all the way up and looking. I even took off all of the plastic trim pieces to see it better and I could see nothing. I know the motor is working fine. It is wierd because it doesn't even budge, I would think it was welded...
Any other ideas?..... |

Actually its a great car and despite the inconvient things, it is in incredibly perfect shape. I don't mind getting things done at the dealership, I would rather fix it myself when possible. Any ideas on a solution?

I would suggest getting in the back seat and pushing on the seat with your legs and have the wife click the switch forward and see if it will break loose.

Man you guys are bad what does the milage have to do with a jammed seat? if he likes the car and enjoys it thats all that matters. I'm sure he is well aware of all things associated with the joy of ownership of the flagship 7, he is just looking for some help like most of us or a direction to look without paying the 129.00 diag fee to find out there was a ball point pen wedged in the seat track.

Couldn't have said it better myself. Thanks for the help. So with that great piece of information, anybody have any ideas on how I can fix it or at least get one step closer to diagnosing the problem?
Thanks Everybody!!!!! |

Have you checked the electrical connector for that motor? Can I also ask how you know that the motor is working if you cannot move the seat to test it?

I know the motor is working because when I jack the seat up I can all of the motors. There are many motors under the seat, but I tracked down the one that moves the seat forward and backward. When I push the forward button, the left side of the seat slide along the left track, but the right track is jammed solid. I won't even budge. There is a cable with some type of a shaft that controls the jammed track and by feeling it while pushing the button, I confirm that the shaft is turning inside of the cable as well. there is just something preventing the right sode of the track from moving. Any more idea would be GREAT!!!
Thanks so far... |

I dont know if this will help but when i was at dealer one time getting subs looked at i seen the tech put seat all the way up and then forward towards dash. If you hold in the middle up position and between forward position you will notice the seat get really close to the dash try that and see if that gets it loose from whatever is stopping it. Good luck.

Is it possible to remove the the seat rails from the body? Perhaps that way you can get better access to see what the problem is.
