Front license plate mounting bracket.

Since my car was originally delivered in Florida, the dealer never installed a front license plate bracket. I think I read somewhere that the brackets are supposed to be shipped with the car for installation by the dealer.

Does anyone from a 1-plate state have a bracket for a 2008 335i? If not, what about a discount online parts supplier?

Stop by a BMW dealer. I bet they'll just give you one.

Not in these economic times, nor times of plenty. There is a reason why dealership owners buy yachts!

If you don't want holes drilled into your bumper try one of these:

http://www.rhoplate.com/index.html

http://gominigo.com/NHLPB-BMW.html

Many of us in "two plate" states do not have front plates.

I just picked up these for my wife's volvo since the MD dealer drilled holes in the front bumper and IN doesn't require them.

The OP is in a situation where he has a virgin bumper and is going to install a front plate. If he does that, then later decides to remove the plate and bracket, bumper plugs would be one appropriate fix.

I was trying to give him some alternatives to drilling holes in the first place should he want to or need to install a front plate.

Yeah... prolly not, I guess. Probably depends on the dealer.

To the OP. I bet with just a bit of ingenuity, you can figure out a way to mount that front bracket using double sided tape and no screws.

I took my bracket off to detail my car (yeah, yeah... I know) and the dealer cranked down too hard on the screws. The bumper beneath the bracket is distorted quite a bit a good distance away from the screw holes. Even with bumper plugs, it wouldn't look right if I ever wanted to get rid of the front plate.

I posted a thread about this...double sided tape worked for me (for a police inspection). The plate has been on for over half a week with no signs of falling off. No drilling/holes in your bumper.

Just an update.

Good News: I was able to pick up a bracket from the BWM dealer for a grand total of $16

Bad News: They charged me $9 for screws! Well, at least they will all be matching when the plates go on.

JUst bought a front license plate bracket in Illinois. $23 plus 2.22 for screws and tax.

I will take it over a $100 ticket.

On the options for installing the plate holder using the tow hook receptacle...has anybody experienced scratching?

The two to three websites I looked at in this thread all have screws sticking out of the back and while the plate is a half and inch or so away from the bumper, vibrations and the push in the plate from the wind seem like they would eventually cause the screws to touch the bumper and scratch. Any experience reports are appreciated. There was at least one solution that includes rubber feet on the back to prevent this.

I want to get a mount like this for future road trips since I got a warning on my most recent road trip for no displaying a front plate.

The brackets and plate On the Gominigo are stainless steel and will not flex/bend in the wind. They do say something about car wash brushes though. Which shouldn't be an issue since we don't use car washes, do we?

thanks!

There are no holes in my front bumper, I'm really struggling with what to do - this might work.

My license plate holder is still in my trunk where my dealer left it 3 years ago. When I didn't put it on I was a bit concerned that I might get a ticket, but I have never been stopped or asked why it is not installed so I left it off. I think it looks much better with no plate anyway.

Well, there are always complaints that people start threads without having searched for similar ones so I guess the OP did his/her homework first.

After getting a fix-it ticket in Lake Tahoe... CA side CA CHP. I mounted the Skene Design bracket. It went on in 10 min, looks good, well as good as it can look... I may remove it after I get the fix it ticket signed off. Really a good kit, all hardware and good instructions. $56 shipped to my door.

http://www.skenedesign.com/FPBracket/index.htm

Now, where can I find a cop to get this signed off? Starbucks? Just don't find them in the doughnut shops any more...

This is what I have.

Trivial to install, holding up well. Like the look! No problem w/license plate readers paying tolls.

I had this same problem I got a ticket in Chicago because my car didn't come with the front licence plate bracket which is required in Illinois, and one of the Bimmer forums recommended a bracket mount from AutoZone which turned out to be just as he stated and you wouldn't guess how much... Only $7.99

I just bit the bullet and installed my BMW front license plate bracket. Felt horrible to drill into the bumper but in my state I need the front plate and figure I won't ever take it off. Oh well, it is still just as fast!

Mount front plates without drilling holes

I just installed the front number plates without drilling holes. I used the original mount that came with my BMW. I used a couple of 24" long cable ties (1/8 " wide), looped them through the bottom holes (not the holes for the screws), and tied them to the back grill. The mount is held in place by 2 hooks at the top. Then I screwed the plates on to the mount by 4 screws.
Job done in 10 minutes.

I recently bought a E91 wagon. It has two hold on the front bumper that are 12.8 inches (28.5 cm) away. I hate to make more hold on to the bumper. Is there such a license plate bracket with its mounting holes that far apart?
